A brief but strong wind and rain storm rattled Morris residents and, undoubtedly, had others making calls to insurance agents.

The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning at about 6:40 p.m. Thursday, but by that time straight-line winds were doing their damage.

The wind storm also caused the evacuation of West Wind Village. Residents were returned to their residences unharmed, according to Stevens County Sheriff Randy Willis.

Several large trees were blown down on Morris' west side. One large tree fell across Nevada Avenue, and another smaller tree was blown into a residence on Nevada and West 9th Street.

A large tree was uprooted and fell on a shed near Nevada and West 10th, and about a block away, a large tree fell on a powerline, knocking out electricity in surrounding areas.

A residential tree was snapped off and fell into a residence near California Avenue and East 1st Street. No injuries were reported.

Throughout Morris, smalled branches were strewn throughout neighborhoods, streets and avenues.
