Summer reading program kickoff at the Morris Public Library
MORRIS -- The Morris Public Library will kick off their 2013 Summer Reading program on Monday, June 10 with a visit from the Minnesota Zoomobile at 11 a.m.
A Zoomobile naturalist uses live animals, biological artifacts, storytelling and audience participation to create a dynamic, personal and fun program for all ages. The Zoomobile is sponsored by the Morris Public Library and Viking Library System and is funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Art and Cultural Heritage fund.
Readers of all ages will explore all things underground this summer as the Morris Public Library presents “Dig Into Reading” during their summer library program. The 2013 program is open to young people, preschool through teen and will run from June 10 to July 27. Kids who stop in the first week can have their fines waived on any Morris library items.
Once again, we will have reading logs and book marks to track reading progress along with incentive prizes. Story time, Lunch Bunch, Book Bunch, Mad Scientist Club and Friday Flicks return this summer along with some new events. These include a Collectible Card Game Tournament on July 2 and Minnesota Comic Workshop on July 17. Other special events planned include the grammy winning musicians, “The Okee Dokee Brothers” on June 27 at 2 p.m. and magician, “STAR Michaelina,” performing July 25 at 10:30 a.m.
