A young Minnewaska/Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta girls' swimming and diving team finished the 2012 season with an overall record of 2-7. The Gators placed fifth in the West Central Conference and 11th out 12 at the Section 6A meet.

Four seniors led the Gators in the pool: Kendra Harpstead, Bridget Opdahl, Julianne Helander, and Colleen Rutledge. 

"The seniors had an outstanding swimming year and career and their leadership made the difference leading our team to improvements," said coach Linda Hoffmann.

The varsity team received a section academic award with a GPA of 3.54. All of the girls are in the top 21 percent of their class. 

Helander and Opdahl were named to the West Central All-Academic Team with a 3.75 GPA or better.

Several members of the varsity received team awards this season.

Emily Edmunds and Meghan Thoen were named Most Improved.

The Most Improved Diver was Haley Gallagher.

Most Valuable Diver was Helander.

Several swimmers missed zero or only one practice and received the 100% Award: Julia Hoffmann, Rachel Erickson, Ashley Anderson, Tristin Heald, Bridgitte Weaver, Emily Edmunds, Mason Schlief,  Ashley Homme, Julianne Helander, Bridget Opdahl, and Colleen Rutledge.

Morris/C-A Awards were presented to Agnes Dieter and Kate Folkman as Most Improved and Katie Ohren was named the Hardest Worker.

At the junior high/junior varsity level the Rookie Awards went to Rachel Erickson and Julia Hoffmann. Patience Tharp and Kallan Mercier were named Most Improved.

Opdahl scored the most points for her team with 480.

She was also named a West Central Conference Swimmer of the Week.
