The students of the Morris Area Tae Kwon Do Association traveled to Redwood Falls Saturday, March 27 to compete in the Annual USA Korean Tae Kwon Do Tournament. Competition included Forms, Sparing, and Board Breaking.
The team from Morris entered eight athletes and brought home a variety of trophies. In the tournament, students are placed according to belt color then age category.
Morris Yellow Belt Mason Dougherty placed second in forms and third in sparing.
Orange Belt Peyton Riley placed second in forms and third in sparing.
Blue Belt Jared Lanoue placed second in forms and second in sparing.
Brown/Black Stripe Matt Steen placed first in forms, second in board breaking, and third in sparing.
Brown Belt Kelsey Voges placed second in forms and third in sparing and T.J. Voges placed second in forms and second in sparing.
Red Belt Eli Nordquist placed second in forms and second in sparing.
Red Belt Denner Dougherty placed third in forms and third in sparing.
Also participating in the tournament was Alan Monroe who earned Black Belt status when he broke three hand boards.
The Spring session of Tae Kwon Do is underway and there is still time to enroll. Tae Kwon Do meets every Monday night all year long at Morris Area Schools under the instruction of Tim Bormann.
