Giese played guitar and sang "I Don't Hurt Anymore" and an original song title "Smile."

Second place was awarded to Matthew Rutten (in accompanying photo) singing Beatles tunes and playing accordion.

Honorable mentions were given to singer and guitarist Rick Foss, and Jon Rundquist and Toby Deandra with a guitar and harmonica duo.

All four, along with the qualifying acts from the other three preliminary contests, will advance to the final contest July 10 during Prairie Pioneer Days.
