Talking it over: Celebrate the fourth
It is hard to believe that we are at the end of June already and the Fourth of July observance is this weekend. The early summer (that wasn't summer) has gone by so fast. The cool weather has made it feel more like spring than summer.
This brings us to another Hancock July 4 celebration. Another year for the parades, games, great food, music and fireworks. I can't wait for the festivities to begin.
If you note by the schedule of events both in the ad on page 8 and article on page 1, there are the usual activities going on but also a few new ones added in. Some are fundraisers while others are just something new to make the celebration extra special.
It is fun to see the new things added along with the regular events. You never know if something is going to be a hit until you try it for a few years. For example, Bingo was added just a few years ago and is now very well attended and popular.
There are so many different people in town, each with their own likes and dislikes. It is hard to find enough things for them to do, places to go and treats to enjoy while adding in variety. Hopefully, with each new thing added, we can satisfy more of the demand.
I hope to see many of you around town this weekend at the numerous activities. If you think about what the celebration will be like next year, with the All-School Reunion, we can appreciate a little less busyness. However, it will be fun to anticipate an even bigger celebration next year, attended by many of our former classmates, residents and friends. We have a lot to look forward to, not just this weekend, but in the year to come.
