Contrary to popular belief, there is another holiday between Halloween and Christmas. Thanksgiving sometimes gets lost in the preparations for Christmas but is an equally important holiday.
Before we get too involved in Christmas, we should take time to be thankful for what we have. There are so many things to be thankful for no matter what state our life is in. Simply to live in a land free of war and to have the freedom to do most anything is a big reason to say thanks.
Many of us can also be thankful for family, friends, food, shelter, health, and employment. This year, for some, good weather and growing conditions brought about a good harvest. Many have wonderful talents and abilities that they share with others.
Not everyone can be thankful for all of these things. Many people do not have as much to be thankful for as others yet I would be willing to bet that they find something to be thankful for this year.
I encourage you to search for the many things you can be thankful for and keep those thoughts with you throughout the holiday season. We can keep the season of Thanksgiving active right up to Christmas as we remember to give thanks for the gifts we get throughout the year, at Christmas, and more importantly, the gift of that first Christmas.
