Thomas Vail hired as Stevens County Historical Society Collection Registrar
Thomas Vail was hired as the new Collection Registrar for the Stevens County Historical Society.
Vail brings a variety of life skills and experiences to the job, most recently as a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Morris in 2009 with majors in History and Psychology.
Prior to earning his degree, Vail worked as a farm proprietor who owned and operated a cash crop operation specializing in the production of spearmint and peppermint oil for over 25 years in both Wisconsin and Stevens County.
Vail and his wife, Vickie, live in Hancock and they have three grown children.
Vail's interest in history and in particular the collection position was fostered during his academic experience at UMM. His appreciation for the collection and preservation of primary historical items provided him with an experience of researching in several of the west-central Minnesota museums.
Vail succeeds retired collection professional Joan Boleman in the care and preservation of the collections for the Stevens County Historical Museum, beginning in mid-June.
