Three Cougar men listed on UMAC's cross country team

Senior Nick Mangan paced the College of St. Scholastica to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Men's Cross Country Championship, while headlining a group of 12 student-athletes to earn all-conference accolades. Mangan out-ran his opponents with an 8k time of 27:02 at the Chequamegon Bay Golf Club in Ashland, Wis.

Mangan was joined on the all-conference list by teammates Tony Bye and Pat Bigaouette. Also earning UMAC All-Conference honors was the University of Minnesota-Morris' Luke Toso, Ian Philbrick and Andrew Rehmann, Bethany Lutheran College's Matthew Behmer and David Blumer, North Central University's David Calhoun, Josiah Miller and Jeff Winkelman, and Martin Luther College's Nathan Loersch. Toso crossed the finish line 18 seconds behind Mangan to take second place, while Behmer and Blumer came in third and fourth with times of 27:41 and 27:47.

St. Scholastica's victory was the Saints' second in a row and their third in the last five years. Three members of both St. Scholastica and second-place Minnesota-Morris' squad earned Top 10 finishes. North Central University took third place in the meet, followed by Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther. 

Following his team's performance, St. Scholastica head coach Steve Pfingsten earned UMAC Coach of the Year honors.
