Three Hancock FFA members to attend National Convention

The Hancock Future Farmers of America is sending three students to the FFA National Convention this October in Indianapolis. They are Andrew Steiner, Kaylee Voorhees and Jason Schaefer. The three kids from Hancock will be joined with over 60,000 kids from across the United States. The Hancock representatives will get on a charter bus right after school on October 20 and travel with other kids from across the state of Minnesota to Indianapolis. Among other things at the convention, the Hancock FFA members will enjoy the largest indoor career show in the United States, a concert from country music's Trace Adkins, and a speech by Mike Rowe, host of dirty jobs.

The Hancock FFA members will enjoy many things and bring back even more memories. The FFA national convention is the largest youth organization in the United Sates. It is very cool when you step outside and all you see is a sea of blue corduroy FFA jackets in the streets and in the buildings. I spoke to a family that was on a vacation in Indianapolis last year, and they did not know that the FFA National Convention going on. The father of the family said that they were staying well out of town because all the FFA people filled up the hotels in town. I found it very amusing talk to them because they knew nothing about FFA.

This will be Andrew's second year that he is going to the National Convention. Andrew is looking forward to seeing the people that he met at WLC (Washington Leadership Conference) when he went this summer. He will be attending a supper with every one that attended WLC. Andrew said that it is very cool meeting farm kids from different states and seeing how their life on the farm compares to ours in Minnesota.

This will be Kaylee's first time attending the National Convention. She is looking forward to the Trace Adkins concert that will be held in Locus Oil Stadium.

This will be my second year going to Indianapolis and I am looking forward to it very much. I am looking forward to meeting the kids that I met at SLCCL (State Leadership Conference for Chapter Leaders). I hope I can also run into our state officers. I walked around last year in amazement because of all the people everywhere. This year I plan to take in more of what this convention can offer me. Like through the keynote speakers, the Career show, and just by speaking to other farm kids from across the United States.
