Tiegs named MPD Officer of the Year for work in computer forensics

MORRIS – Sergeant Ross Tiegs of the Morris Police Department was named the 2012 Officer of the Year at the department's annual dinner on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Tiegs has been with the MPD for over 28 years. He is part of Minnesota's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and a member of the National White Collar Crime Center's investigative force.

He continues to conducts computer forensics investigations not only for the Morris Police Department but on a regional and state level as well.

Tiegs also coordinates the training calendar for all officers in the department to ensure that each individual has completed all of their mandatory trainings, as well those needed to help develop a specific skill set. His focus on online trainings has greatly benefited this endeavor.

Tiegs has also helped with the development and implementation of the departments new records system and its mobile computing component.

At the awards dinner, Officers Anita Liebl and Shane Nelson received the department's Lifesaving Award for their CPR efforts that revived an individual who was in full cardiac arrest.
