Tiger baseball team improves to 2-0
Morris Area improved to 2-0 on the season with a 15-12 win at Benson in West Central Conference South baseball action Thursday.
The Tigers scored five runs in the fifth to surge in front 14-11 and then held off Benson.
An error got two runs in and then Eric Riley stole home.
The teams combined to commit 11 errors and seven pitchers issued a total of 22 walks and 19 hits.
Riley crushed a three-run homer in the third to tie the game briefly at 5-5 before the Braves scored four in the bottom of the frame. Ryan Beyer doubled twice and singled to plate three runs.
Benson's Brennan Kent's three hits included two doubles for three RBI. Cameron Simmonds went 3-for-5 and drove across four runs.
Mitchell Kill got the win in middle relief and Riley earned the save for the Tigers.
The Braves fall to 0-2 on the season.
