Congratulations to Tayvin Viratyosin and Shaylynn Johnson who have been selected for membership in the Minnesota Band Directors Association (MBDA) 9-10 Grade Honor Band for the 2010-2011 school year. Their director at Morris Area High School is Wanda Dagen. They were two of 80 students selected from 221 who auditioned this winter for a position in this group.
The students participating will have the opportunity to work with some of the finest music educators in the state as their section coaches and will be conducted by Jerry Luckhardt, Associate Professor of Music at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. The students will rehearse with Dr. Neal on Saturday, April 9 at Farmington High School and will then perform a concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday April 10, in the auditorium of Farmington High School.
The Honor Band program is an on-going project of MBDA, a professional organization of band directors representing band programs of all grade levels from throughout the state of Minnesota. The mission of MBDA is to assist in the development of band directors and band programs in schools, colleges and communities throughout Minnesota.
Congrats also goes out to Thomas Roberts who auditioned and made the Concordia Honor Band which is rehearsing and performing this weekend at Concordia in Moorhead.
Congratulations also go out to the members of Wind Ensemble and Concert Band. Both bands earned superior ratings (the highest rating possible) at this week's large group contests.
