Tiger boys mark sixth win

The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta boys basketball team took a loss to Lac Qui Parle Valley last Friday, but marked a sixth W of the season with a win over Yellow Medicine East Tuesday night in Morris. The Tigers are now 6-11 overall, 4-6 in the West Central Conference, and being in the tougher South subsection of Section 6AA, the Tigers are behind holding a 3-4 section record.

LQPV 66, Morris/C-A 56 Lucas Strand led the Lac Qui Parle Valley Eagles with 18 points and Kellen Kessler scored all nine of his points from the three-point line in a nonconference win over the Tigers on Friday, Jan. 24.

Brandon Hill had eight points and six assists and Garrett Olson and Noah Jensen both scored eight. Olson also had five blocked shots in the win for LQPV.

The Tiger’s Noah Grove hit five three-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points and Bryce Jergenson added 11.

Eric Staebler was tamed to just seven points on the night, his first single digit scoring game all season. Staebler was also tamed on the boards, but still led the Tigers with just six.

Morris/C-A 75, YME 63 The Tigers do better in their home gym, now holding a 4-5 record at home after their sixth win of the season against Yellow Medicine East on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Just six Tigers scored in the 75-63 win over YME.

Staebler was back in the action full throttle as he scored 32 points and picked up 11 rebounds for the Tigers. Grove added 22 points, five assists, four steals and hit four three-pointers. Jergenson also had five assists along with six points in the win.

YME’s Blake Lindstrom scored a game-high 35 points in the losing effort.
