Tiger boys see streak end at NLS

NEW LONDON -- New London-Spicer made 75 percent of its free throws to beat Morris 76-64 for the West Central inter-conference boys basketball championship Friday.

The Wildcats (19-8), champions of the West Central North, sank 21 of 28 shots from the charity stripe, including 17 of 20 in the second half.

The hot foul shooting helped the Wildcats avenge a 56-53 regular-season loss to the Tigers (20-4) last Friday at Morris. The Tigers also saw their 12-game winning streak end.

Erik Tengwall paced NLS with 21 points, including sinking a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. Jay Moten added 17 points and Jayme Moten followed with 11.

Jackson Henrich tallied a game-high 24 points for the Tigers. Chris Scott contributed 15 points.
