The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta girls' basketball team extended a winning streak to five games with a 50-37 win at Montevideo Thursday.
The Tigers improve to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the West Central Conference South. They host Benson Saturday night.
The Tigers shot 43 percent from the field and over 70 percent from the free-throw line, scoring 25 points in each half.
"We probably played one of our best games of the season tonight," said coach Ken Gagner. "Missing starting point guard Jenna Nelson, the Tigers had to rely on doing all the little things correctly.
"We had an outstanding start - jumping on the Thunder 8-0," said Gagner. "I think this confidence stuck with the players and they just played solid ball all night long."
Mary Rentz scored a game-high 24 points and also made eight steals to lead the Tigers.
"I have to give a hats off to senior guard Mary Rentz," added Gagner. "She had to do a lot of the ball handling tonight and she just put us on her shoulders.
"Having said that, one player cannot do it alone and the rest of the squad, despite not having the numbers Mary put up, also stepped up their performances."
Nicole Gillespie and Kelsey Greenwaldt scored seven points apiece, while grabbing eight and five rebounds, respectivley.
"It was a great win for these players and I am very happy for them."
Montevideo had the deficit down to six points in the second half, but could get no closer.
"Another key point was the defense," Gagner added. "After giving up 58 on Tuesday night, including 38 in the first half, they obviously responded to the challenge."
The B-squad also continued their winning ways with a 46-32 victory.
