The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tigers split in the action going into this past weekend with a loss to Sauk Centre Thursday night and picking up a win over Ortonville on Friday.

Sauk Centre 64, Morris/C-A 49

Sauk Centre’s 3-point shooting was a killer for Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta, which fell 64-49 to the Mainstreeters in a West Central Conference basketball game on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Sauk Centre’s Ali Peterson hit six of the team’s 12 three-pointers and finished with 24 points.

Only six of the Mainstreeters’ 18 total field goals came from inside the three-point line.

Beth Holland scored a team-high 19 points and Becca Holland added nine points.

Lacee Maanum and Kaitlin Vogel led the Tigers with eight rebounds apiece, and Lauren Reimers had six points, five assists and three steals.

The B-squad Tigers took their first loss to undefeated Sauk Centre, which edged them 45-41.

The Tigers almost doubled up Ortonville in the first half and cruised in the second half, as well, winning the non-conference game in Morris on Friday, Jan. 24.

All 12 Tigers who played scored, led by Reimers with 15 points and Beth Holland with 11.

Rebekah Aanerud hit three of the Tigers’ five 3-pointers and finished with 9 points, and Becca Holland finished with 6 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals.

The B-squad got back into the winning mode of JV basketball with a 63-19 win over Ortonville, improving to 14-1 on the year.

The Tigers are off until traveling to play A-C-GC in a West Central Conference game on Friday, Jan. 31 in Grove City.
