Tiger girls suffer 1st loss in West Central Conference

In a battle between the top girls' basketball teams in the West Central Conference, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta suffered its first league loss Tuesday falling to BOLD 60-35.

BOLD improved to 13-3 overall, while the Tigers are now 10-6.

BOLD never let the Tigers get going, taking a 37-14 lead into the locker room at halftime.

"The Warriors ran out to a huge lead to start the game," explained coach Dale Henrich. "All we could do was chase them the rest of the game.

"Their speed and size caused us a lot of trouble. The result was 26 turnovers.

"We shot 29 percent from the field and pulled down an average number of rebounds," added Henrich.

Katie Holzheimer led the Tigers with 15 points and Beth Holland scored nine points. Tracy Meichsner led in rebounds with 11, along with five assists. MaKenzie Smith grabbed nine rebounds and Kaitlin Vogel grabbed seven.

The Warriors had four in double figures as Carly Sigurdson scored 21 points, Maggie Nagel had 15 points and 13 rebounds, Baylie Kubesh had 12 points, seven boards, six assists and four steals, and Taylor Ebnet had 10 points and four assists.
