The Tigers are coached by the same coaches from previous seasons: Trent Oberg and Jodi Snell. Coach Abby MacHolda is coaching the junior high this season, along with many volunteer coaches helping out all with a gymnastics backgrounds, which is greatly appreciated by the program itself.

There are 29 gymnasts on the squad this year, including several new faces to the program. The Tigers are led by seniors Kendra Buro and Abby Travis.

Many of the Tiger gymnasts attended training camps this summer to improve.

“[The improvement from the camps] has really shown these first weeks of practice,” Oberg said. “It is exciting to see how they have improved and strengthened.”

Oberg said that the coaching staff was impressed with the newcomers to the program this season.

“A few of them have a dance background and that helps a lot,” Oberg said. “They have been working hard and are eager to learn more.”

The Tigers opened their season hosting a relaxed and low-key annual invite on Saturday, Dec. 7. Oberg said this meet is used to “get the kinks and nerves out” before the official season starts.

The Tigers fared well in their first meet, finishing fourth with 112.35 points out of six teams. New London-Spicer came in first with 130.45 points with Benson behind them with 118.525 points.

Kourtney Giese placed fifth overall for the Tigers, tying for fourth in the bars event with a score of 7.55.

“All in all, it was a great start to our season!”

“The gymnasts attitudes have been great,” Oberg said. “We have high hopes and expectations for the remainder of the season.”
