On Friday, the Tigers first took on West Central Area, whom they defeated 4-3, then Parkers Prairie defeated the Tigers 5-2 to split the MA/C-A/C-G-B season opener.

At No. 3 singles, Maddie Hennen defeated Hailey Kreft of WCA 6-4, 6-3.

At. No. 2 doubles, Jessica Burks and Rachel Wagner defeated Lilly Swanson and Hannah Wutzke 6-1, 6-0.

Fourth singles and third doubles were both forfeited by WCA to result in the 4-3 Tiger win.

Against Parkers Prairie, the No. 2 singles player for the Tigers, Katie Cannon, defeated Elizabeth Wippler 6-2, 6-4 and Burks, playing the No. 3 singles spot, defeated Kamryn Arceneau in a 10-4 tie breaker. The set scores were 3-6 and 6-4.

On Monday, the Tigers traveled to Osakis for a quadrangular against Osakis, Melrose, and New York Mills, coming out of the day 1-2. The girls swept New York Mills 7-0, but were swept by both Osakis and Melrose as both teams had stronger and more experienced players on the court.

“All and all, I thought the girls played really hard [Monday],” head coach Brittany House said. “The match scores from the 7-0 losses to Osakis and Melrose didn’t really reflect how close the games actually were points wise. We still have some things to focus on getting better at in practice like consistency and moving our feet, but despite being down, the girls kept positive attitudes and implemented [the coaches] advice during matches.”

The next meet for the Tigers is Monday, Aug. 25 against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle at 10 a.m. The Junior High has its first meet on Monday as well, debuting at home against West Central Area at 4:30 p.m. The Junior High Tigers then travel to Lac Qui Parle Valley on Tuesday and Melrose Area on Wednesday, Aug. 27. West Central Area hosts the varsity Tigers on Thursday, Aug. 28, hoping to avenge its prior Friday morning loss in Morris.
