With the win, the Tigers avenged a 37-30 early-season loss to the Thunderhawks. The Tigers outscored Montevideo 27-6 in the last six matches to move into the quarterfinals.

Myles Smith won a 9-3 decision at 125. Seth Nelson won an 8-3 decision at 130. Joel Harrison won a 10-6 decision at 215.

Tim Ostby at 152, Connor Metzger at 160, Ryan Beyer at 189, and Zach Gibson at 285 all won by pinning their opponent.

The Tigers advanced to the quarterfinals against No. 1 seed Wabasso/Red Rock Central, but that's where the road ended with a 68-7 loss.

Evan Nelson won a 9-2 decision at 112 and Smith won a 13-4 major decision at 125 for the Tigers' only points.

"We wanted to win five matches this season and get into the next round of the team tournament," said coach Troy Ostby. "We finished 6-11 for the year and made it into the quarterfinals. I couldn't be prouder of the job these young guys did this year."

The Tigers will have a little over a week to prepare for the individual sections.
