Tigers defeat short-handed Minnewaska team
The Morris Area/Hancock/Chokio-Alberta wrestling team picked up a 43-28 dual win over Minnewaska on Parents' Night in Hancock Thursday.
"The Lakers are low on numbers to start with, but the flu took at least one more for this event," explained assistant coach Blaine Hill. "The end result was a 43-28 Tiger win, but the Tigers were given five forfeits."
The match started with Matt Munsterman losing 13-1 to Joseph Weaver at 106 pounds.
Then following a forfeit to Mitchell Ascheman at 113 pounds, Travis Ostby pinned Spencer Winter in 1:48 at 120 pounds.
Evan Nelson then won by a major 10-1 decision at 126 pounds, but Max Feuchtenberger was pinned by Caleb Blaisdell in 3:47 at 132 pounds.
The Tigers then traded some wins back and forth before finishing out the match. Dillan Johnson received a forfeit at 138 pounds and Myles Smith pinned Jacob Lutterman in 1:10 at 145 pounds.
Minnewaska then picked up wins when Brook Wollschlager pinned Jarid Berning in 5:43 at 152 pounds and Ryan Stottler pinned Seth Nelson in 1:40 at 160 pounds.
It was then the Tiger's turn again. Aaron Nelson got a forfeit at 170 pounds and Connor Metzger bumped up in weight to beat Taylor Lundebrek 4-1 at 182 pounds.
"This was definitely the best match of the night," said Hill.
The match concluded with Bradley Jacobs defeating Alec Gausman by pin in :23 seconds at 195, a double forfeit at 220 pounds, and Jacob Sperr wining by forfeit at 285 pounds.
Next up for the Tigers is a triangular in Morris next Thursday with Benson and Montevideo.
