Timely hitting allowed Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta to escape with an extra-inning win at New London-Spicer Monday.
The Tigers were outhit 13-6 by the Wildcats, but the Tigers also took advantage of nine walks and four Wildcat errors.
Tommy Holland singled with one out in the eighth before stealing second base and advancing to third on a groundout. The Wildcats then misplayed a groundball that allowed Holland to score the winning run.
Jake Torgerson then retired the Wildcats in order in the bottom half to complete a four-inning relief appearance. Torgerson gave up five hits and one run, while striking out two and walking two to earn the win.
Two Wildcat errors led to two unearned runs for the Tigers in the first. An RBI single from Tanner Tobkin, who went 3-for-4, and an RBI double from Grant Vagle allowed NLS to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom half, but the Tigers plated three runs in the fourth behind Tanner Picht's two-run single and Chandler Erickson's RBI double.
Vagle added a two-run single in the fifth and Mitch Ejnik's RBI double in the sixth put the game at a 5-5 tie.
