Morris Area lost a high-scoring West Central Conference South baseball game to BOLD Tuesday at Chizek Field.

The Tigers open the Section 3AA North tournament Saturday, May 29 with a 1 p.m. game at Bird Island. The Tigers are the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 Redwood Valley.

The Tigers went ahead 7-4 in the fifth when Brady Valnes singled, stole second, and scored on Tanner Berning's single.

Then in the sixth, BOLD tied it at 7-7 on three hits and a Tiger throwing error.

Morris answered with Hansen and Beyer singles and a left center gap shot by Eric Riley for a two-run lead.

BOLD came back with five runs on five singles and a sacrifice fly, plus a Tiger error.

The Tigers fought back and loaded the bases. Valnes smashed a hard grounder to first which was booted for an error. Rinkenberger walked. Taylor Hufford pinch hit and ripped a grounder to second for an error. Hansen's infield single plated a run, but the game ended on a grounder to third.

Earlier in the game, the Tigers were down 2-0 in the second. They scored four runs on a grounder by Berning and clutch hit singles by Rinkenberger and Hansen.

In the fourth, Berning doubled, Bruer walked, and both scored on Beyer's bloop double to center.
