Tigers fall to WC South leading Thunder Hawks
The Tiger boys' basketball team found out why Montevideo is unbeaten in the West Central South Conference Friday night at Morris Area. The Thunder Hawks outscored the Tigers 64-46.
The Tigers have a busy week playing West Central Area and BOLD at home and traveling to Long Prairie on Saturday for an afternoon game.
Morris Area took an early 12-11 lead before falling flat scoring only five points in an eight-minute stretch. At the half Montevideo led by 12, 29-17.
The Tigers shot just 32 percent (19-60) from the field. Nathan Lund, Taylor Witt, and Chris Scott combined for three of 15 from three-point range. The Tigers' free-throw percentage was 83 percent, but they only went to the line six times.
Meanwhile, the Thunder Hawks shot 48 percent (22-46) from the field, also making three three-pointers. But Montevideo made good on 17 of 24 free-throw attempts.
The Thunder Hawks held Witt to just 14 points.
Other Tigers in the scoring column were N. Lund and Scott with seven apiece. Both Justin Lund and Mitch Leonard had six points. Scoring two points each were Aaron Lund, Craig Knochenmus, and Lincoln Arnold.
Witt led in rebounds with nine and assists with three. He also had two steals.
J. Lund had four rebounds.
