Tigers get first baseball win
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta picked up the season's first baseball victory with a 5-3 win over Lac qui Parle Valley Tuesday at home.
Sam Mattson fanned 15 Eagles en route to a seven-inning four-hitter.
Mattson got 11 outs in a row by strike out starting after Sam Haas scored on a wild pitch in the first inning.
Still, the Eagles went ahead 3-2 in the top of the fifth when Haas, who tripled twice, scored from third on a suicide squeeze bunt by Colby Siegert.
Tied 3-3, the Tigers scored a pair in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead. Jacob Torgerson single and scored on a Bryce Jergenson double. Tom Holland's sacrifice fly brought in an insurance run.
Mattson walked only one batter.
Mac Beyer hit a solo homer for the Tigers.
Brandon Bornhorst went six innings in the loss.
