Morris Area fell behind early after the Sting scored five runs in the top of the second inning.

Down 8-0, the Tigers scored two runs in the fifth inning on two hits and two Sting errors. Kelsey Amundson advanced to second on an error and scored on a ground ball error hit by Dani Schultz. Schultz later scored on a ground ball by Katie VanKempen.

Mary Rentz and Britney Greenwaldt had the Tigers' only hits of the game.

"Anderson threw very well," said coach Mary Holmberg. "We struggled with our bats and could not get any rallies started."

Walks and hits combined for the Sting's runs.

Sara Beyer pitched four innings giving up eight runs on six hits, six walks, and one strike out.

"Sara struggled with control in the second inning," said Holmberg. "Take away that inning and we were right in the game."

Amundson pitched the final three allowing two runs on four hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.

"Kelsey came in the fifth inning and was able to get a strike out and the number one and two batters to fly out."

The Sting scored a single run in the fourth and two in each the fifth and sixth innings.

"Defensively, VanKempen had four put outs in center field, along with some nice catches by Brianna Neuman," said Holmberg. "Schultz was solid behind the plate throwing out one runner attempting to steal second."
