Four girls scored in double figures to help Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta defeat BOLD 62-48 Thursday in West Central Conference South basketball action.
The Tigers improve to 7-2 in the conference and 10-3 overall.
BOLD falls to 2-7 and 4-10.
The score was knotted at 23 at the break as neither team was able to pull away.
"We played a fair first half, but we were slow on our feet and all four starting seniors had at least two fouls and our senior point guard Nelson had three," said coach Ken Gagner. "We talked at halftime that BOLD is a young team and might make a run so we would just need to stay patient and continue to work hard on defense."
BOLD fulfilled the prediction by starting the second half hitting two threes and led 29-23.
The Tigers went on a 20-6 run in the game's final six minutes to make up for losing an 11-point lead in the first half.
"We just hung in there and finally got things going," said Gagner. "Kelsey Greenwaldt hit two key baskets at the five-minute mark to finally give the Tigers some breathing room.
"Jenna Nelson played the whole second half without a foul or turnover and that was key," added Gagner. "I also was proud of our junior post Erin Schieler who played some tough defense for us on the inside as well as getting six of her eight points in the final half."
BOLD did not go to the line in the second half after shooting 8-11 in the opening stanza. The Tigers were 8-14 in the second half.
Mary Rentz netted 20 points, Nelson had 11, and Nicole Gillespie and Greenwaldt scored 10 apiece.
Brittany Nissen, Brenna Holwerda and Brittany Dahlk all scored eight points to lead a balanced attack for BOLD.
The BOLD B-squad moved to a perfect 12-0 after defeating the Tigers, while Morris/C-A took the C-squad game.
