Learning that starting junior Tracy Meichsner would miss the remainder of the season with a left knee injury, the Tigers responded by shooting over 50 percent from the field and having three players score in double figures.

Abbie Olson had 18 points. Lauren Reimers scored 12, and Becca Holland had 10 to spearhead the Tigers. Olson also had 7 rebounds, as did Liz Tiernan, while Beth Holland had five assists and Kaitlin Vogel four steals.

Carley Stewart had a game-high 19 points for Minnewaska.

The Tigers took control of the game early on, going on a 19-3 run in the first nine minutes of play. After a bucket by Becca Holland to put the Tigers up 27-5 with 6:22 left in the half, the Lakers were forced to take a timeout to try to readjust. Coming out of the timeout, the game was back and forth, but the Tigers still went into the halftime break with a 19 point lead 39-20.

In the second half, the Lakers tried adding some full court pressure defensively, but it didn’t work. The Tigers easily broke the press for easy buckets up the court, keeping the momentum in their favor throughout the half. Minnewaska couldn’t execute their shots as defensive boards led to more easy buckets for the Tigers. The Tigers kept pushing until the final buzzer, getting the victory over the Minnewaska Lakers 72-47.

The Tigers will hit the road and travel to Melrose for a contest on Tuesday, Dec. 17. The Tigers will be back at home on Thursday, Dec. 19 and 20 for contests against Litchfield and Paynesville, respectively.
