Tigers improve to 4-0 with win over Eagles
Cole Riley and Eric Riley accounted for both of Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta's two runs Monday as the Tigers edged Lac qui Parle Valley 2-1 in a West Central Conference South pitcher's duel.
Morris/C-A starter Alex Erickson struck out 11 and surrendered just two hits and LQPV starter Brandon Bornhorst fanned eight as both pitchers went the distance in a game that lasted just an hour and 26 minutes.
Eric Riley scored both runs for the Tigers as Cole Riley singled in the fourth and sixth innings. The two accounted for four of the Tigers' eight hits. Erickson added a double. Tyler Hansen was 1-for-3, Taylor Hufford was 1-for-1, and Mitch Kill was 1-for-2.
Eric Paulson, on his 10th pitch of his at-bat in the sixth inning, homered over the left-field fence for LQPV's lone run.
Morris/C-A loaded the bases in the first inning, but Bornhorst then struck out the side to escape damage.
Both teams entered the game undefeated. Morris improves to 4-0, while the Eagles fall to 3-1.
