Tigers meet tough competition in LQPV

The Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta track and field program met up with tough competition from Central Minnesota Christian School, Lac qui Parle Valley, Yellow Medicine East, and Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley at the Early Bird Invitational hosted by Lac qui Parle Valley on Friday, April 11.

Senior Nate Vipond finished second in both the discus throw and shot put, posting a new season best in both events. In the disc, Vipond threw a 121-04 – a two foot increase from his previous personal best this season. Vipond threw the shot for a 39-03.75, which is over three feet better than the score he posted last week at the Merv Meyer Invite.

The first place finishers for MA/C-A girls were Kindra Cannon, Midori Soderberg, and Moira McNally. Cannon took first in the 200 meter dash and also took fourth in the triple jump. Soderberg placed at the top in the 300m hurdles, posting a 54.25, and finished third in the 100 hurdles (18.86s). McNally cleared her second place opponents disc throw by over a foot and a half, posting a throw of 89-08.

Next up for MA/C-A is the Tiger Invite on Tuesday, April 15 in Morris.
