Tigers plate nine runs in 2nd to sink YME

A nine-run second inning ignited Morris/Chokio-Alberta in upending Yellow Medicine East 13-1 Monday.

The Tigers remained in a virtual tie with Lac qui Parle Valley for first place in the West Central Conference South.

The Tigers, who improved to 7-1 in the conference and 11-1 overall, had 13 players bat in the second inning, producing eight hits. Travis Rinkenberger had a two-run single, Tyler Hansen added a two-run double, and Ryan Beyer slugged a two-run homer.

Alex Erickson struck out eight and gave up just four hits and one walk to earn a complete-game win. Erickson also scored twice and drove in a run by going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Cole Riley had a double and two singles, and Hansen and Taylor Hufford added two hits apiece.

Tyler Hansen was 2-for-2 with 2 runs and 2 rbi; Brody Bahr was 1-for-1; Alex Erickson was 2-for-3, with a double, 2 runs, and an rbi; Ryan Beyer was 1-for-2 with 2 rbi; Cole Riley was 3-for-3 with 2 rbi; Taylor Hufford was 2-for-3 with an rbi; Brady Valnes was 1-for-3; and Travis Rinkenberger was 1-for-3 with 2 rbi.

Garrett Cole scored on a wild pitch after reaching base by belting a double in the fourth for the Sting.
