Tigers remain unbeaten in WC South softball
Double-threat Mackenzie Weatherly led Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta to its 12th West Central Conference South win without a loss on Monday with a 12-2 win over Montevideo.
Weatherly twirled a five-inning, three-hitter with three walks and 10 strikeouts. She also went 3-for-4, including two doubles, and drove in four runs at the plate.
The Tigers improved to 14-1 overall.
The Thunder Hawks kept it tight early. Ashley Hoehne hit a run-scoring double in the first and Chelsea Larson singled in a run in the third for a 2-1 lead for Montevideo.
Six of the 12 runs off the Thunder Hawks' Vanessa Jordahl were unearned.
Four players accounted for the 10 Tiger hits. Dani Schultz went 3-for-4 and Haley Scheldorf and Jaimie Bergeson had two hits each.
The game was moved from the Eagles Complex to Wells Park which was less impacted by 1½ inches of rain early Monday morning.
