Tigers run in 98°
The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta cross country teams ran at the Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd Invitational Thursday, Sept. 1.
"Due to the heat index of 98° the race distance was shortened considerably," explained coach Dale Henrich.
MaKenzie Smith placed fifth with a time of 12:48. Julia Sauder finished in 15th place in 13:59.
The rest of the varsity team included Adrianela Mendez, Becca Holland, and Tahni Jungst, finishing 24th, 25th, and 26th, respectively.
Alaysia Freetly of Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd had the winning time of 11:35.
Roy Reese placed seventh in the varsity boys' race with a time of 10:29. Aaron Goulet placed ninth, Beau Keimig finished 11th, Gage Anderson was 12th, and Jacob Erickson rounded out the team score in 18th place.
Also running varsity were Caleb Sanderson, Ben Jerke, Ryan Gray, Jonathan Jerke, Brody Bahr, Riley Arndt, Matt Ohren, Ben Folkman, and Sam Mattson.
Ben Burgett of Community Church took first place with a time of 9:53. A Redwood Valley runner took the next five places.
Four Tigers competed in the junior high race. Owen Erickson finished sixth in 8:17. Dylan DeToy was ninth in 8:49, Russell Lindahl placed 14th in 9:04. Garner Swenson placed 16th in 9:26.
