Morris Area shut out BOLD 28-0 in the Tigers' football home opener at Big Cat Stadium Friday night.
The Tigers rushed for 306 yards on the ground and quarterback Ryan Beyer was 9-of-13 for another 150 yards in the air. All together, the Tiger offense put up 456 yards, while the defense held the defending conference champs to only 142 yards overall.
Eric Riley scored the Tigers' first touchdown with 20 seconds left in the first quarter. Jordan Fletcher kicked his first of four extra points in the game to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead.
With 8:15 remaining in the second quarter, Mitch Kill caught a pass from Ryan Beyer to top off a five-play drive to the endzone.
Riley caught the football and ran it to the endzone in a 75-yard play at the 2:04 mark of the second quarter. The Tigers held a 21-0 lead going into the half-time break.
In the third quarter Brady Valnes caught a pass for three yards and the Tigers' final TD of the game.
Riley had 120 yards to lead the Tigers in rushing. Tyler Hansen added 93 on 17 carries.
The Tigers start the conference schedule with a win and improve to 1-1 overall. They return to Big Cat Stadium next Friday when they host neighboring Minnewaska Lakers.
