Tigers snap losing streak, defeat the Sting 8-4
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta broke out of a three-game losing slump to defeat Yellow Medicine East 8-4 at home Tuesday.
The Tigers got on the board early with a run in the first inning.
The Sting tied it up in the third, before the Tigers regained the lead on Chandler Erickson's two-run, two-out single.
The Tigers put the game away with five runs in the fifth, including Erickson's two-run triple.
"We've been working hard on getting more disciplined at the plate and hitting the ball on the ground," commented coach Mark Torgerson. "We had 12 hits and really ran the bases well. It was nice to get a comfortable lead.
"Chandler Erickson collected some clutch hits and had five RBIs to lead the hitting attack.
"Sam Mattson pitched another solid game and when he got just a little tired in the seventh, Jacob Torgerson came in and closed out the game with three strike outs."
Austin Thorstad had a pair of singles to drive in three runs for Yellow Medicine East.
