Tigers start new year with big win

The Morris Area boys' basketball team returned to action after the winter break Monday, starting the new year with a 75-54 win at Lac qui Parle Valley.

The Tigers took a 20-point lead into halftime with a 36-16 edge.

Morris Area shut down the home team's outside shooting, preventing all 12 of the Eagles' three-point attempts.

The Tigers were shooting at 58.2 percent from the floor. At the free-throw line they were 10-of-18.

The Eagles shot at 40 percent and were 14-of-17 at the line.

Chris Scott dominated with 27 points. Lincoln Arnold added 15 and Jackson Henrich chipped in 13.

Also scoring were Taylor Nohl and Eric Riley with six points apiece.

Tyler Meichsner had four points, while both Josh Love and Mitch Carbert scored two.

The Tigers held a 35-22 rebounding advantage with Henrich leading the charge with eight. Nohl and Scott each grabbed five boards.

Meichsner and Henrich recorded four assists apiece.
