Morris Area drops to 1-1 on the season with a 3-1 loss to Benson/Hancock in West Central Conference South softball action Thursday.

The two teams combined for 19 hits, but stranded several runners.

Benson/Hancock pitcher Taylor Semler gave up nine hits, but helped her own cause with no walks and six strikeouts.

Mackenzie Weatherly suffered the loss. She allowed 10 hits, walked one, and fanned six.

Megan Jepma's two-run single in the second and an unearned run in the fourth put Benson/Hancock up 3-0.

Hannah Sayles and Haley Henrich had two hits each for Morris Area.
