The Tigers play Fairmont at noon on Saturday back at Legion Field in Marshall.

Erickson, a senior-right-hander, walked one and struck out two. He retired the last 12 Eagles in order.

Erickson was in trouble just once in the game. In the fourth inning, New Ulm's first two batters reached on a double and a walk. But Erickson started the streak of consecutive outs, getting a fly out to right field, a ground out and a fly out to left to end the inning.

The Tigers got two runs in the second inning. Eric Riley singled and moved to third on a hit-and-run single by Cole Riley. Eric Riley then scored on a double steal as Cole Riley was thrown out a second base.

Valness then belted a towering home run over the left-field fence at Johnson Park.

The Tigers added an insurance run in the fifth. Mitch Kill walked, stole second and rode home on Tyler Hansen's two-out single to right.

Tyler Hansen was 1-for-3, rbi; Eric Riley was 1-for-3; Cole Riley was 1-for-2; Brady Valnes was 1-for-2, solo-HR; and Ethan Bruer was 1-for-2.
