The Morris Area/ Chokio-Alberta volleyball team won two of three West Central Conference South matches as they reached the mid-point of the season.

The Tigers got a taste of victory Thursday, Sept. 22 at Lac qui Parle Valley with a three-set win over the Eagles. It was their first in conference play.

Back at home Monday, the Tigers suffered a 3-0 loss to BOLD, but battled back Tuesday to win a five-set match at Montevideo. The first time they played the ThunderHawks, the Tigers lost a close 3-0 match at home.

The Tigers dominated the Eagles by scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 25-9.

Jaimie Bergerson led the Tigers with nine kills, followed by Terianne Itzen and Sydney Engebretson with seven apiece.

Mikaela Henrichs recorded 19 digs as the libero.

Katie Holzheimer put up 13 assists.

The Warriors won the first two sets 25-16 and 25-12, before the Tigers fought to a 26-24 finish in the third.

Itzen and Engebretson led the team in kills with seven and six, respectively. Henrichs had a match-high 15 digs and Holzheimer had 14 assists.

The Tigers and ThunderHawks went back and forth with 18-25, 25-18, 17-25, 25-22 sets, before the Tigers took the fifth 15-8.

A balanced attack on the front line helped the Tigers win. Itzen and Engebretson had nine kills apiece, while Nicole Strobel and Paige Schieler each had eight.

Henrichs had 17 digs. Itzen and Engebretson recorded double digits in digs as well, with 13 and 11 respectively. Itzen also had 12 assists, while Holzehimer had 13.
