Tigers win two nailbiters

The Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta softball team edged out two game-winning gems against host Sauk Centre on Tuesday, May 6. With the final scores being 1-0 and 2-1, the contest sure kept the crowd on their toes for the nailbiter.

The Tigers are now the only undefeated team in the entire West Central Conference, standing at 7-0 in the conference in front of the Mainstreeters who dropped to 7-2 after last nights losses to MA/C-A.

The Tigers are back in Morris, hosting the top WCC-South contender, Paynesville, on Thursday, April 8 with the first pitch at 5 p.m.

Game One

Morris/C-A 1, Sauk Centre 0

Becca Holland doubled to drive in pinch runner Emma Zosel, accounting for the Tigers’ only run over the ’Streeters.

Kayla Pring pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out six.

Game Two

The Tigers scored the tying run on a dropped fly ball and the go-ahead run on a passed ball in another close game where the teams combined for just four hits.

Kayla Pring earned the win again, this time in relief, and pitched 4.2 innings with two strikeouts.
