Tigers wrestle at BOLD quadrangular

On Jan. 16 the Morris Area/Hancock/Chokio-Alberta wrestling team took part in the BOLD quadrangular. The Tigers faced BOLD, ranked 10th in Class A, along with Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd and Zumbrota-Mazeppa.

Tuesday the Tigers were very competitive against Breckenridge/Campbell-Tintah on the road.

Tanner Berning picked up the only win for the Tigers, pinning Nate Stottler in 1:58 in the 160-pound match.

At 103 pounds, Tony Domnick lost by fall in 3:41 to John Weeding.

At 112, Jordan Thooft lost by technical fall to Dylan Croatt.

At 119, John Zierke lost by fall in 0:56 to Boe Stensrud.

At 130, Josh Nelson lost a 22-8 major decision to Sam Haats.

At 135, Eric Goette lost a 9-4 decision to Ryan Swenson.

At 171, Ryan Beyer lost by technical fall to Jack Massee.

At 189, Jeff Knobloch lost an 8-6 decision to Scott Ludvigson.

At 215, Zach Gibson dropped a 2-1 decision in overtime to Joe Hutt.

At 285, James Newhouse lost by fall in 3:02 to Brandon Schmitt.

Domnick and Gibson picked up wins for the Tigers against BOLD.

Domnick won the 103-pound match with an 8-4 decision over Alex Hatch.

Gibson won the 215-pound match with a 4-2 decision over Tyler Minkel.

At 112, Thooft lost by fall in 0:50 to Ricky Morales.

At 119, Zierke lost by fall in 0:46 to Jacob Revier.

At 130, Nelson lost a 7-1 decision to Zach Revier.

At 135, Goette lost a 15-4 major decision to Cody Goldschmidt.

At 152, Berning lost a 7-3 decision to Alex Steffel.

At 171, Beyer lost by technical fall to Sam Steffel.

At 189, Knobloch lost an 11-0 major decision to Andrew Brooks.

At 285, Newhouse lost by fall in 0:19 to Dusty Caspers.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa dominated the Tigers, not allowing the team a single point. After a long night, the Tigers gave up just over half the points, forfeiting in seven weight classes.

At 103, Seth Nelson lost by fall in 3:22 to Hunter Prodzinski.

At 112, Thooft lost by fall in 3:41 to Nick Majerus.

At 119, Zierke lost by technical fall to Juan Oseguera.

At 135, Goette lost a 14-6 major decision to Grant Kyllo.

At 171, Beyer lost by fall in 1:47 to Chad Matthees.

At 215, Knobloch lost by fall in 5:02 to Ben Dahl.

In the heavyweight match, Gibson pinned Jason Krause in 5:47.

At 103, Aaron Wehking won by forfeit.

At 112, Thooft won by forfeit.

At 119, Domnick lost by technical fall to Justin Goodijohn.

At 152, Berning lost an 8-2 decision to Stephen Erlandson.

At 171, Wade Ehlers lost by fall in 0:32 to Cole Praus.

At 189, Beyer lost a 10-0 major decision to Greg Erlandson.
