Toddler dies from injuries suffered in altercation between two men in a Wheaton church
A 14-month-old girl died in a Fargo hospital after she was injured in an altercation Thursday between two men in a Wheaton, Minn., church, the Traverse County Sheriff's Office reported today in a news release.
Wheaton Police where called to Thy Kingdom Come Church about 6:58 p.m. on a report of an altercation.
The two men were identified by Wheaton Police as Darryl Glenn Kennedy, 33, and David Eric Collins, 50, both of Wheaton.
They were both arrested for assault, the sheriff's office reported.
Both remain in custody, Wheaton Police said.
The girl was first taken to Wheaton Community Hospital, then later transported to MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, where she died from injuries, the sheriff's office reported.
An autopsy is being conducted by the Ramsey County (Minn.) Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause of death, the sheriff's office reported.
The name of the child is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
The investigation is being conducted by the Wheaton Police Department, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Traverse County Sheriff's Office.
