Tom Larson has been named editor of the Morris Sun Tribune.
Larson, a 43-year-old Benson native, has almost 20 years experience in daily newspapers as a news and sports reporter.
Larson graduated from Benson High School in 1978 and earned degrees from the then-Willmar Community College in Willmar, and the University of Minnesota.
"Larson brings a depth of experience and professionalism to the editors position that is the envy of many weekly newspapers. His familiarity with the region and dedication to quality journalism will bode well for readers of the Sun Tribune," said Dennis Winskowski, Director of Weekly Newspapers, Forum Communications Company.
"Readers can expect positive change in the newspaper in the weeks to come."
Larson covered various beats during almost 11 years at the St. Cloud Times, in St. Cloud, including city and county government, farm and environment, education, St. John's University athletics, as well as other college, professional and amateur athletics.
In 1998, Larson moved to the Duluth News Tribune, in Duluth, and covered University of Minnesota, Duluth athletics, the Duluth-Superior Dukes baseball team of the Northern League, and the Duluth Huskies baseball team of the Northwoods League.
Larson is engaged to Pam Johnston, also a Benson native, with an October 2004 wedding planned.
Larson replaces Ryan Stattelman, who resigned to pursue other interests after serving 16 months as editor of the Sun Tribune.
