Tony Baker, age 59, of Debs, Minn., died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at Sanford Fargo Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji with Father Don Braukmann officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Roosevelt Township Cemetery in Debs.
Anthony Lee John Baker was born Oct. 17, 1952 in Ortonville, Minn., to Walter R. and Ronata (Burk) Baker. He was the first of their five children. He attended school in Ortonville, Willmar, Hancock and Park Rapids, where he graduated in 1971.
Following high school, Tony attended the Detroit Lakes Vo-Tech. Tony married Karen Mattson on Aug. 10, 1991. Throughout his life, he was a salesman, a carpenter, a butcher, a bartender, a well-driller and a gun smith. In 1986, he joined the Minnesota State Patrol as a motor carrier specialist. He retired in 2011. Tony was more comfortable outdoors than inside and enjoyed hosting family and friends for hunting and fishing.
Tony is survived by his wife, Karen; his father, Walt of Morris; siblings: Alyn and his wife Patricia Baker of Northfield; Tim and his wife Denise of Rosemount; Rhonda and her husband Kendon Lange of Morris and Sue and her husband Jim Dieter of Morris; brother-in-law, Rod (Caroline) Mattson; ten nieces and nephews, many aunts and uncles and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ronata; his father- and mother-in-law, Rodney and Esther Mattson.
Casketbearers are Chuck Long, Albert Hinrichs, Rick Gordon, Dean Smith, Darrell Olson and Marvin Girtz.
The Cease Funeral Home of Bemidji is in charge of arrangements.
