Track & field teams compete at 'Waska
The Morris Area boys' and girls' track and field teams participated in the Minnewaska Invitational Tuesday.
The boys came in second with 92 points at the eight-team meet. First place went to Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd with 121 points. Right behind Morris Area was Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg with 91 points.
Three Tiger relays placed first at the meet.
The 4X100 relay team of Steve Sarlette, Alex Lorenz, Geoff Brustuen, and Corey Nohl placed finished with a time of 47.85 for first place.
The 4X200 team of Corey Nohl, Taylor Nohl, Matt Wulf, and Lincoln Arnold placed first with a time of 1:37.17.
The 4X400 relay team of Wulf, Taylor Nohl, Stefan Lemke, and Arnold took first with a time of 3:39.8.
Also placing first was Arnold in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.4.
Jackson Henrich took first place in the discus with a throw of 134 feet, nine inches.
Lemke placed second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:50.76.
Henrich took second in the shot put with a throw of 42-11.
Eric Goette tied for third in the pole vault with a height of 11-0.
Connor Arnold took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 40-3.
Henrich placed fourth in the triple jump with a 38-.5.
Tristan Michealson placed fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 19.84.
Also finishing in fifth place was Steve Sarlette in both the 100- and 200-meter dash. His 100 time was 11.62 and his time in the 200 was 24.8.
Cody Cannon took fifth in the pole vault with a 9-6.
Josh Love took fifth in the shot put with a throw of 38-7.5.
Corey Nohl placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.23.
Nathan Fangmeier placed sixth in the 800 meter with a time of 2:23.31.
Tyler Evink took sixth in the discus event with a throw of 103-1.
The girls finished with 28 points and placed seventh overall. The winning team was Paynesville with 141 points. Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg took second in the girls' meet as well with 111 points. Third place went to Chokio-Alberta/Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley with an 81.
Two Tiger girls achieved personal best results at the Minnewaska Invitational.
Rachel Moser took first place in the pole vault with a 9-0, her personal best.
Placing fourth for the Tigers was Kelsey Loew in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 53.7, also a personal best result.
The 4X100 relay team of Katie Huot, Moser, Erica Domnick, and Jenna Nelson placed fourth with a time of 56.1.
The 4X400 relay team of Huot, Moser, Loew, and Tina Larson placed fourth with a time of 4:32.1.
Tina Larson took fifth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.7.
The 4X800 relay team of Christine Schneider, Brooke Anderson, Megan Thooft, and Kelly Mahoney finished in fifth place with a time of 11:39.7.
Taking sixth place was Moser with a time of 18.5 in the 100-meter hurdles.
Domnick placed sixth in the high jump with a 4-4.
