Troops will be coming home this weekend
The Minnesota Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery (1-151 FA) will be returning to their hometowns this weekend. The 550 soldiers from 1-151 FA returned to Fort McCoy, Wisc. following their 12-month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery Soldiers will undergo medical and administrative out-processing at Fort McCoy before they return to Minnesota.
The first wave of Soldiers were scheduled to arrive on Sunday, March 28. They are tentatively expected to arrive in Morris this Saturday, April 3 and will be escorted to Morris coming in on Hwy. 28 from the east and will turn on the Hwy. 59 by-pass, then on to Hwy. 9 through main street of Morris.
The soldier will be escorted to the Armory, where their IMMEDIATE family members will greet them with open arms. (This is not open to the public). The scheduled arrival in Morris is 11:45 a.m. (give or take, but be out early, so you don't miss them).
The next event takes place at the PE Center at the UMM campus, starting with a 25 minute video of the soldiers beginning at 2:20. The official homecoming ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. This is open to the public and all are encouraged to wear red to honor those who have fallen, those who have served and for those still serving our country.
