Tubbs interim head of STG Public Health
Sandy Tubbs, Director of Douglas County Public Health, will serve as interim director of the Stevens-Traverse-Grant Public Health department.
The STG Public Health board appointed Tubbs to the position Thursday. She replaces Betty Windom-Kirsch, who resigned as STG director Aug. 27.
Stevens County Coordinator Jim Thoreen said Windom-Kirsch "resigned under duress." Her job performance had been under review by board officials for about a year, he said.
Windom-Kirsch had been STG's director since Sept. 2004.
After receiving the OK from Douglas County, the STG board appointed Tubbs to the interim position until the board can interview and hire Windom-Kirsch's replacement. Tubbs' appointment is expected to last between 90 and 120 days, Thoreen said.
At a special meeting appointing Tubbs, the STG board also reviewed a contract with Douglas County for Tubbs' management services, reviewed supervisory needs and expectations during the interim, and reviewed a search process timetable.
Thoreen, who is the human resources consultant to the STG board, said he will work with Tubbs to coordinate the search process.
STG Public Health has about 24 employees and maintains offices in Morris, Wheaton and Elbow Lake.
