Daniel Jeffrey Zahl, 34, of Morris and Leah Jean Morhman, 25, of Alexandria have both been charged with 5th degree possession of a scheduled substance, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.

Officers with the Stevens County Sheriff's Department, Morris Police Department, Minnesota State Troopers and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension executed a search warrant at a home in Scott Township, Stevens County, on Thursday, Oct. 20 at about 3:30 a.m.

According to the report, when officers arrived at the home they found Zahl outside with methamphetamine in a sandwich baggie in his pocket and $2,240 on his person.

Mohrman was inside with the resident of the home. The search of the resident's home, truck and person also uncovered, among other items, multiple pipes used for smoking marijuana, a pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine and bags with residues of synthetic marijuana and methamphetamine. While searching the basement, officers uncovered a box that appeared to have been used as a drying area to prepare marijuana, the report states.

Both Zahl and Mohrman were arrested and transported to the Stevens County Law Enforcement Center where they declined to provide statements to officers.
