Two separate fires in the Kensington area - one late Friday night and the other early Saturday morning - destroyed a log home and a farm building.

The first fire took place shortly after 9 p.m. February 6 at the David and Lisa Hanson residence on County Road 25 near Kensington.

When authorities arrived on scene, they found the residence, a log home, fully engulfed in flames. No one was injured, but the home appears to be a total loss, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Three fire departments were called to the scene, including Hoffman, Evansville and Kensington.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The second fire occurred at about 4:30 a.m. February 7 at the Denise and Craig Quinn residence on County Road 15 NW near Kensington.

The homeowners' dogs reportedly starting barking, waking up Denise Quinn, who discovered the fire in a farm building on the property.

When authorities arrived on scene, the 120-year-old granary building was fully engulfed.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation. Deputies on scene, however, noted that nothing looked suspicious, according to the sheriff's report.

The Brandon Fire Department was dispatched to the scene and requested mutual aid from the Evansville Fire Department.
